Summit 2025 of the German Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth (DKN)

Together with around 250 participants, mainly from the German research landscape, Stefan Lechtenböhmer and Anna Schomberg from the Sustainable Technology Design department and visiting professor Franziska Hoffart (also from the Kassel Institute for Sustainability) took part in the Sustainability Science Summit 2025 organized by the German Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth (DKN). After initially focusing on current global political developments and their impact on sustainability research, the participants then took the opportunity to engage in intensive discussions about their current work and issues in research and teaching related to sustainability in numerous parallel sessions.

In their own sessions, Stefan Lechtenböhmer, Franziska Hoffart and Anna Schomberg presented the topics of DACH organization for sustainability research, sustainability-related teaching and the role of mining in the sustainability transformation and discussed them with various guests. The sessions were all well attended and many exciting discussions explored a wide range of possibilities for further joint work on the topics presented.
