MecaNano General Meeting 2025

MecaNano in Krakow for the third General Meeting

From May 19 to 21, researchers from across Europe came together in Krakow for the 3rd General Meeting of the MecaNano COST Action—a growing network focused on the mechanics of materials at the nanoscale. The meeting was hosted at AGH University’s Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology.

Our lab was well represented: Prof. B. Merle, who currently chairs the MecaNano network, attended along with M.Sc. Mona Stoll, M.Sc. Tizain Arold, and Dr. M.T. Abba. All three presented their latest work during the poster sessions, which were very well attended and led to engaging technical discussions.

The three-day program included a wide mix of talks and posters, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field—from experimental nanomechanics to modeling and data-driven approaches. It was a great chance to exchange ideas, reconnect with colleagues, and explore new directions for collaboration.

We thank the local organizers for the excellent organization and warm hospitality—and for an unforgettable conference dinner that many will remember as a highlight of the meeting.
