Ms. Hanyu Xu received her bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in China and her master's degree from RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
She is involved in the DFG project "Data-driven inverse design for enhanced tramp elements tolerance in scrap-based steelmaking". Her research focuses on density functional theory (DFT) and machine learning methods for interatomic potentials (MLIP) as well as phase field modelling for solidification and homogenization, especially with regard to Cu segregation. The simulation studies are carried out in close collaboration with recognized colleagues at the University of Oxford, who are responsible for the in-situ X-ray imaging of Fe-C-Cu-X alloys.
