Opening of the exhibition "Werk - Stoff - Idee" at UNI:Lokal

On January 28, 2026, the exhibition "Werk - Stoff - Idee" opened at UNI:Lokal in Kassel's city centre on Wilhelmstraße. Innovative materials from materials research and new pioneering research topics are presented. These include the "Kassel solar window", metal 3D printing, shape memory materials and current research work on wood and concrete. The exhibition can be visited until April 11, 2026.

At the opening, the Vice President of the University of Kassel, Prof. Dr. Michael Wachendorf, Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Heim and Prof. Dr. Thomas Niendorf from the Institute of Materials Engineering and the curator of the exhibition, Kathrin Meckbach, gave a brief introduction to the topic. They thanked everyone involved for the successful implementation of the exhibition and drew attention to upcoming guided tours and short lectures that will be offered to interested parties and school classes in the coming weeks.

Afterwards, visitors had the opportunity to form their own impressions of the research ideas while enjoying snacks and drinks.
