Preparation of the seminar presentation
In the Moodle course for the seminar you will find a set of slides with tips on how to avoid bad slide sets.
Do not use too many animations and check whether your slides are also displayed correctly on another computer (fonts and formatting/element arrangement are notorious problem candidates).
The easiest way is to convert the slides into a PDF file.
Do not forget to indicate the sources for your images on the slides (next to the image), if necessary as a short note or reference in the bibliography or the picture credits.
Preparation of the elaboration
You should document the background to the content of your slide presentation. This includes a definition or description of your topic and the technology behind it, an analysis of the effects (opportunities and risks) of its use and further development as well as an assessment of the situation and (expected) future.
The paper should be readable and comprehensible in isolation and should fully outline your work. Use an appropriate writing style, colloquial expressions and idioms are out of place!
In particular, please ensure that your paper meets the usual requirements for a professional text, including
- Spelling,
- grammar and sentence structure,
- comma placement.
As in any German essay, everything should be correct!
Do not use the "I" form when writing!
Format
The paper should be prepared using a professional typesetting system (e.g. LaTeX) and should not exceed 8 pages. You can use the LaTeX style "article" as a document template.
A suggestion for structuring the content can be found, for example, in Wikipedia (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technikfolgenabschätzung).
The paper must be written independently, include the references used in the form of a bibliography and should generally comply with the principles of good scientific practice (a description of the German University Association can be found in the working materials in Moodle).
In this context, please remember that the text must be formulated by you and must not be a compilation of (reformulated) sources. Please also note that internet references are generally not reliable sources and therefore individual web pages should not support large parts of your work or be based on one or a few dubious websites (this includes Wikipedia!).
Delivery
The paper must be submitted by e-mail. The file format must be PDF, other file types, especially .doc or .docx will not be accepted. However, you are welcome to attach your source files. Please use the words submission, paper and TFA in the subject line of the submission e-mail so that we can assign the e-mails more easily.
