Function overview and operating instructions

The app can be found in the Apple App Store and in the Google Play Store under the name LVUmfrage der Uni Kassel.

Please install the app on your smartphone (iOS or Android) and start it. The app will first ask you to authenticate yourself to the ITS. To do this, use your full ITS account (including the part after the @ sign, for example: u12345@student.uni-kassel.de). A hash value will be created and saved from your successful login; your password will not be saved. The hash value is sent along with your subsequent submissions, but is stored separately from them so that your answers cannot be linked to your hash value.

You can now use the app for surveys.

You can reset your login data later in the LVUmfrage settings (iOS app settings).

You can also set the app's access to the camera (scanning QR codes) and mobile data transmission (loading and sending surveys without a Wi-Fi connection) here. Allowing mobile data transmission may incur costs depending on your mobile phone contract. Make sure you have an active WLAN connection instead.

After starting the app, a list view appears with the existing surveys, sorted by semester. The status of each survey is displayed via icons on the right-hand side. Individual surveys from the list can be deleted.

To delete, press the "Edit" button and select the relevant entry. Alternatively, you can swipe left in the list over an entry to be deleted. The delete button removes the survey from the list and the associated data record is deleted from the device.

The code for a new survey can be entered using the plus button at the top right. There are two alternatives for this: Entering a 6-digit code or scanning the corresponding QR code using the camera.

The selection is made via a dialog. The code can then be entered via another dialog. If the QR code option is selected, a code can be scanned in with the camera.

The new survey appears in the list with a ">" symbol on the right-hand side and can now be completed.

After selecting a new or unsubmitted survey, an overview of the question categories is displayed first. The Overview entry contains general information, the Submit entry contains the button for submitting the answers.

The remaining entries are survey-dependent. A blue dot on the right-hand side indicates that no question has yet been answered in this question category.

All questions are assigned to a question category (section) and the list entry can be used to jump to the beginning of the relevant section. All questions in the section are then displayed one below the other on one page and can be accessed by scrolling (up/down swipe). The different sections are located on adjacent pages. You can switch between the sections or display pages either via the higher-level category list (tap the list element or the "Back" button at the top left of a section) or via a right/left swipe.

The app provides different types of answers, which differ in their presentation and operation.

Once all entries have been made as required, the survey can be submitted using the "Submit evaluation data" button on the last page ("Submission"). Submission is only possible once per survey and per person.

An overview of the survey results can be accessed for submitted surveys. This is shown in the list overview by the symbol of a bar graph on the right-hand side. If this graphic is blue, the survey is still active and updates can be called up, otherwise it is gray.

Once the survey has been submitted, the result can be viewed. To do this, the list entry of the survey must be selected. An overview of the sections appears again, which can be used to navigate between and among the answers, as when filling in the answers. The "Back" button at the top left takes you back to the section overview of the survey results

In the display of the answers, the bars that were entered as your own answers are highlighted in color.

The Update button can also be used later to request an update to the current submission status of the survey. This allows the current response statistics to be updated.

Note:As the evaluation of courses involves personal data relating to the lecturer, for data protection reasons it must be possible for the lecturer to object to the publication of this data. In this case, a dummy result is currently sent back from the server to the app, in which all answers appear with the same rating. This is not a programming error.
