In the first two semesters of your degree course, you will lay the mathematical foundations for your future studies. Experience has shown that many students have particular difficulties with these mathematical course contents. For this reason, there are a number of additional courses designed to make it easier for you to start your studies. Participation in these courses is partly voluntary and partly a compulsory part of your studies.

• Pre-course in mathematics
• Mathematical bridge course

A preliminary mathematics course is offered before the start of lectures.

The preliminary course serves, among other things, as preparation for the mathematics test.

If you fail or do not take the math test, you should or must (depending on your examination regulations) attend the mathematical bridge course. You can take the bridge course exam at the end of the semester. A passed bridge course exam formally counts as a passed math test. Registration for the exam is required.

Participation in exams for other courses requires a passed math test or a passed bridge course exam. Please refer to your examination regulations to find out which courses these are.
