After the successful participation in the course Numerical Methods and Optimization the students are able to:

  • develop and use numerical simulation codes of flow and heat and mass transfer
  • optimize general energy problem

Content

  • Numerical methods: discretization and general formulation of flow phenomena and transfers; finite volume methods: solving diffusion and flow problems, resolution of convection-diffusion problems; finite element methods: approximation by finite elements, various types of elements, integral formulation;finite element methods based on finite volumes. 
  • Optimization: optimization problem, constrained and unconstrained optimization
