Free German, English, Spanish and French Courses from Winter Semester 2026/27 for All Students at the University of Kassel

One course per semester in German, English, Spanish or French may be taken free of charge through the Sponsored Place Programme ("Patenplatz"), with a maximum of two free courses during the course of your degree programme. (Language for Specific Purposes courses and the Intercultural Communication course offered within the Studium International programme may be booked in addition.)
The number of free places is limited and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Our tip: Complete the placement test as early as possible so that you will already have received a registration code ("Anmeldecode") required for course enrolment when registration opens on 14 September 2026 (all languages except German) or 14 October 2026 (German).
Further information is available on the webpage for your chosen language.
Please note that free or reimbursable sponsored places ("Patenplätze") are no longer available for any other languages. However, many departments will, upon application, recognise the ECTS credits earned in these courses as additional key competencies within your degree programme.
