University sports floorballers welcomed their colleagues from Göttingen for a friendly match

On Saturday, March 5, the long-awaited floorball match between the participants of Kassel and Göttingen General University Sports took place in the Aueparkhalle. The participants active in this field hockey sport met up to play together for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The two teams from Kassel University Sports and the team from the University of Göttingen competed against each other in several short games in tournament mode. This allowed both advanced players and beginners to try out floorball almost under competitive conditions with a lot of fun and passion.

Rene Burghardt, one of the organizers of the floorball group at University Sports Göttingen, sums up the floorball game: "After making contact with the floorball group from University Sports Kassel, we quickly received an invitation to play together in the northern Hessian city, which we gladly accepted with a group ready to play. The friendly mini-tournament on site was a lot of fun, enjoyment and sweat, and even after the sports session we had a sociable get-together. Many thanks again for the invitation and next time we'll be happy to compete in Göttingen!"

Dimitri Sendetski, floorball coach at Kassel University Sports, adds: "We are very happy that we were finally able to play with our colleagues from Göttingen after many months of the coronavirus pandemic and a break in play last year. There's a lot of interest in floorball at both universities, and there are hardly any floorball tournaments taking place across Germany at the moment, so we're hoping for more games and meetings with the floorballers from Göttingen. The current mini-tournament was really great, and now we're looking forward to a return visit."
