More than just a tennis court

After inspecting the tennis court at the Aueparkhalle, it was clear in 2020 that the court was no longer playable and urgently needed to be renovated. The clay court was very uneven, making it almost impossible to play tennis, as almost every ball bounced in an unexpected direction. In addition, the court could not be watered sufficiently for years due to a defect in the irrigation system, which made the ground very soft.

As early as September 2020, research began into what a renovation or new construction could look like. Various floor coverings were discussed, as the new pitch needed to be as sustainable as possible and usable almost all year round.

In order to eliminate the previous deficiencies, a hard pitch was chosen for the new surface. On the one hand, this is less dependent on the weather, which means it can also be used in the fall and winter months, and on the other hand, the applied field lines make it multifunctional. In addition to tennis, the court can now also be used for soccer.
