Premiere of the adh-Open Discgolf: Uni Kassel wins the title in Göttingen

An eagerly awaited weekend of disc golf took place on August 11 and 12, 2023 on the university sports course in Göttingen. The first edition of the adh-Open Discgolf organized by the German University Sports Association (adh) attracted participants from universities all over the country.

After previous years in which the adh-Open Discgolf could not take place due to a low number of participants, this year we finally experienced the eagerly awaited premiere. The tournament attracted 35 dedicated players, including eleven participants and four teams from the University of Kassel.

On Friday, the focus was on doubles play, where the teams competed against each other on a special 18-hole tournament layout. The best results were achieved by Lukas Kreutzer and Christian Plesker from the Technical University of Darmstadt, followed by Jan Förster and Nicolai Kozlowski from the Georg August University of Göttingen. Third place went to Tom Sälzer and Joris Hentschel from the University of Kassel. Special mention should be made of the mixed team of Lena Alter and Louis Bernhard, who achieved another success for the University of Kassel.

Saturday promised exciting individual competitions, with 35 participants competing in two rounds. Christoph Acktun from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster secured first place in the men's category. Second place was shared by Felix Scholder (University of Jena) and Lukas Kreutzer (TU Darmstadt). Tom Sälzer and Nicolas Spiller from the University of Kassel narrowly missed out on a place on the podium with one more throw than their competitors.

In the women's competition, Lena Alter from the University of Kassel impressed and secured victory against Fabienne Welsch (University of Göttingen). Lena played at a high level in both rounds and earned her first adh-Open title in disc golf.

Many thanks to the organizers of the Georg-August-University Göttingen and the Discgolf Club GRAVITEES Göttingen, who made this wonderful weekend possible. The participants contributed to the atmosphere with their enthusiasm and dedication and made the adh-Open Discgolf an unforgettable event.
