KURT at the Fall Cup in Kettwig

From October 18 to 19, the Kassel University Rowing Team (KURT) took part in the Autumn Cup in Kettwig. There they were greeted with beautiful fall weather. On Saturday, races over 2.5 km and 750 m were on the program, followed by races over 4 km and 250 m on Sunday. It wasn't just the sun that provided motivation for the long-distance races, but also the other teams from the university, as the other boats loudly cheered on the Kurtis, who were already in the race, as they raced up the course.

In total, KURT entered six of its own boats and two other racing teams. Our mixed eight achieved 11th place. One Kassel rower rowed her way to 10th place in a racing partnership with the Hanoverian Angaria and the Hanover Rowing Club, another with the Bremen racing partnership to 3rd place.
Three university boats competed in the gig mixed four and achieved 6th, 8th and 14th place. The Kassel teams achieved 5th place in both the women's gig four and the mixed four challenge.

For some of the Kurtis, it was not only their first regatta, but also their first time in a dragon boat. KURT secured 9th place at the Kettwig Dragon Boat Regatta on Saturday.

We would like to thank the Kettwiger Rudergesellschaft for organizing the regatta. We would also like to thank our coaching team for the training, the preparation of the regatta and the on-site support. We would also like to thank the university sports department for the training facilities at the boathouse and for providing the university sports buses, as well as the Kurhessen-Cassel rowing club for the loan of a gig four and a bus. Special thanks go to the Kassel rowing club for lending us a racing four at short notice.

We had a great weekend and are now looking forward to winter training and starting training for the Ergo-DHM in Marburg next year.
