Within the section inclusive education of the department of education, we focus on inclusive education as a global and local concept in our research and teaching. We refer to an understanding of inclusive education which refers to different dimensions of diversity (e.g. dis_ability, gender) and intersectional perspectives.
Inclusive education aims to maximize participation and minimize discrimination. This refers to an ongoing process, e.g. with regard to developing inclusive schools or navigating educational transitions. Inclusive education is characterized by underlying tensions and dilemmas, like the dilemma of difference. Thus, within our research and teaching, we take inclusion as well as exclusion into account.
Regarding inclusive teacher education, we are interested in strengthening intersectional, interdisciplinary perspectives. In doing so, we explore connections to other cross-sectional topics in teacher education, like democracy education or education for sustainable development (ESD), and questions of internationalization in teacher education. International and local cooperation and networks are of central importance for this.
