Digital education in double didactic transfer in subject lessons for educators (Digifach)
BMBFSFJ project as a joint project between TU Dortmund University and the University of Kassel
Background
Digital education is becoming an increasingly important area of education for pedagogical work in childcare facilities. Vocational schools as a place of training for future educators play a central role with regard to the digital skills, reflective knowledge and skills to be taught, combined with a professional attitude that takes digitality and education into account. The project "Digital education in dual didactic transfer in specialist teaching for educators [DigiFach]" addresses this interface.
Aim of the joint project
The joint project places a central focus on the qualification of learners and teachers at vocational schools for social pedagogy and develops a participatory training course that enables teachers to prepare future educators for digital early education.
Double didactic transfer
The project strengthens digital skills in vocational school training as part of a double didactic transfer: The scientifically supported further training of teachers aims to further develop the qualification of future educators in digital education. In the long term, this will also contribute to the digital early education of children.
Research questions
The joint project uses a mixed-method design to take a closer look at vocational training for educators. Using a quantitative survey of students and a qualitative survey of teaching staff at specialist schools for social pedagogy, we are investigating the following research questions:
- How are prospective educators qualified for early education in a digital world during their vocational training?
- How can specifically designed further training for teachers in the field of digital early education prepare students at specialist schools for social pedagogy for early education in a digital world?
- What knowledge, strategies, materials, etc. stimulate the professionalization of teachers and future educators (habitus, reflection, skills, attitudes) for digital early education?
- What possibilities (and limits) are opened up in the context of a participatory training concept and implementation?
Project design & planned procedure
In a first step, the current status of educator training in digital early education is surveyed. Students are surveyed using a questionnaire. Expert interviews are conducted with teachers in groups. The results will then be discussed within an interdisciplinary expert board and, based on this, a needs-oriented training program for teaching staff will be developed in a participatory manner in a second step. This will be done in close cooperation with a practice partner.
The training offer will be evaluated via specific survey phases(third and fourth steps) and continuously developed based on the research results.
