Leap into self-employment after graduation: humanities graduates start up!

We are in the year 2022 and what does our world look like? Is this how we imagined it would be when we went to school or even started studying? Do we actually know what it will look like in 2050? The acronym VUCA is not without reason indicative of the ever-changing conditions of our environment. Volatility stands for the fluctuations and fast pace that characterize our working world. Uncertainty stands for the unpredictable and unplannable developments, complexity for the networking that simultaneously causes chaos and confusion. Ambiguity stands for the ambiguity that makes our orientation difficult. So on the one hand, we are living in a very challenging time, while on the other hand we are experiencing how traditional norms and structures are falling away and new opportunities are emerging.

The framework conditions of our working world have changed fundamentally and an interdisciplinary team with diverse areas of expertise is now seen as a matter of course.

In this context, setting up a business is becoming an attractive and entirely feasible alternative, even at the start of a career. In this presentation you will learn how this alternative was realized by a humanities graduate after her studies at Faculty 02.

TransCompass - Training, Consulting & Business Services was founded by Rucha Ambekar in Kassel immediately after completing her Master's degree in 2014. Today, the entrepreneur lives and works in Frankfurt and travels globally as an intercultural trainer and consultant.

In this presentation, she will focus on the following points:

• The current market "out there": what opportunities are there for humanities graduates with start-up plans?
• Self-employment, freelance work or founding a company: What does the start-up landscape look like?
• I am my own boss: a brief plan on the feasibility of the start-up project
• Not the straight path: challenges and solutions for start-ups
• The TransCompass success story and exchange of experiences
