Dr. Franziska Dübgen

Franziska Dübgen studied Philosophy, Political Sciences and Literature at the Humboldt-University of Berlin and in Sassari (Italy). She gained her PhD in Philosophy at the Cluster of Excellence “The Formation of Normative Orders” on postcolonial criticism and contemporary theories of justice. She was a fellow at the "New School for Social Research" (New York), the "Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies e.V”. (Potsdam) and the "Göttingen Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities & Social Sciences" (Göttingen).  Currently, Franziska Dübgen is a Junior Research Group Leader at the University of Kassel with a research project focusing on punitive and social justice and the anti-incarceration movement. She is co-directing with Prof. Ina Kerner the DFG-funded research project “Diversity, Power, and Justice: Transcultural Perspectives”. Furthermore, Franziska Dübgen is taking part in the DAAD-funded collaborative research network “Transformation, Culture, Gender” with junior scientists from Germany and Tunisia. For research stays and numerous international conferences, she visited Mali, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Austria, England and the US. Furthermore, Franziska Dübgen is taking part in the DAAD research project “Responsibility, Justice, and Memory Culture” with junior scientists from Germany and the Maghreb. Her research interests include Contemporary Critical Theory, Social Philosophy, African Philosophy, Critical Race Studies, Transnational Feminism, Philosophy of Law, and Post-development. Besides, she serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals.
