The word "climate" is on everyone's lips in planning and design processes. In this course, you will get an overview of the basic physical relationships and processes responsible for the formation of local and superordinate weather and climate.

After successful participation, you will be able to describe the main relationships between climate factors and climate elements at different scales and to name and critically discuss the relevance for different applications. Contents include: Concepts and scales of climatology, processes of air temperature, air pressure, water as well as clouds, radiation and heat balance, climate classifications, air pollutants, terrain climate, bioclimate and climate change.

The course is usually structured in such a way that first an input is given in German or English by the lecturer, which is complemented and discussed by a student contribution regarding the application in ASL and/or the demand for more sustainability and less resource consumption and emissions (Cf. Fachschaft ASL LESS:ON). Individual guest speakers will also be included to bring other perspectives. The course will conclude with a written exam on the last day of the course.
