Applied climatology for planning and practice
How does the regional and local climate develop and how is it influenced by global climate change? Which climatic factors need to be taken into account in planning and practice? What significance do bioclimate, air pollution control, terrain and air exchange have for the design of cities and landscapes?
The lecture conveys the climatic basics and applies them to planning and design processes in urban and landscape planning using practical examples. The focus is on the following topics: Energy and radiation balance, wind and circulation, terrain climatology, energy meteorology, bioclimatology, air pollutants, climate data and tools, climate change and extreme events - each with reference to practical application. Individual guest speakers are also included to bring in other perspectives.
After successful participation, you will be able to describe the essential relationships between climate factors and climate elements on different scales and to name and critically discuss the relevance for different applications.
