Learning from Cuba
Seminar on the Cuba excursion in March 2026
This course serves to prepare the content and organization of the excursion to Cuba in March 2026. The thematic focus of this year's excursion is on the topic of "Learning from Cuba" in the context of urban resilience.
As part of the seminar, we will take an in-depth look at the urban climate of Santa Clara and analyze heat stress in particular using computer-aided methods. We will also look at cultural, social and planning strategies for dealing with disturbances, extremes and climate risks. Particular attention will be paid to low-tech approaches and creative solutions developed in the Cuban context to address urban challenges such as heat, resource scarcity or infrastructural constraints.
Participation in the seminar is a mandatory prerequisite for later participation in the excursion. The coursework consists of a presentation or a moderated discussion. The examination is the written preparation of a contribution for a reader that will be used during the excursion.
Further information on the procedure, content and organization will follow at the beginning of the semester in HisPos and in the Moodle course. The seminar will take place in the Doku:Lab.
