Social Inclusion and Energy Management for Informal Urban Settlements in Ethiopia (Erasmus+)

Role of FB Urban Regeneration, University Kassel in the project

The chair of Urban Regeneration and Planning (Stadterneuerung/ Stadtumbau), at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning (ASL), Kassel is providing its expertise in planning and design of sustainable cities and neighbourhoods, the nexus of space, society and the environment, experiences in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary project work, in communication from research to practice. Furthermore, we contribute with access to important research networks of scholars and researchers. The team also has expertise in development cooperation and curriculum development and review in the fields of planning and urbanism.
The Kassel Team also supports to the overall project with its expertise on sustainable neighbourhood development and support the development of learning materials to be presented at the thematic workshops and further deepened during site visits and excursions. Moreover we contribute to thematic events (in Ethiopia) and European field trips in particulate one in Kassel, Germany. We also provide expert review of syllabus development, case studies and provide expertise on curriculum assessment and course evaluation and to the dissemination, training and conferences of the project results. Moreover we  provide external trainings (i.e. typologies of informal settlements and their needs, the using scenario planning in informal settlement development and upgrading).
