The Use of Generative AI in Vocational Education Programs

The Department of Work Studies provides guidelines on the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the preparation of coursework and examinations. These guidelines supplement the applicable examination regulations as well as the University of Kassel’s overarching principles of good academic practice with regard to AI. These guidelines apply to all coursework and examinations completed within the department, including, but not limited to, term papers, portfolios, presentations, lesson plans, project reports, reflective assignments, internship reports, project and technical plans, and drawings. Instructors determine which uses of AI are compatible with the learning objectives of their course. A critical and reflective approach to AI is an integral part of both academic and professional competence in the field of vocational education, particularly with a view to future work as a teacher.
