The Department of Information Systems (Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister) of the University of Kassel was also well represented at this year's Hawaii International Conference for System Sciences(HICSS) from January 2-6, 2018 in the USA. The HICSS has been held since 1968 and thus for exactly 50 yearsand is one of the oldest and most traditional academic conferences of this kind. A total of about  1,000 attendees from several dozen countries exchanged ideas on topics in the focus areas of Information Systems / Business Informatics and IT. 

HICSS is a  C-rated conference (VHB-Jourqual 3) and is considered one of the most important conferences in the field of Information Systems after ICIS and ECIS. In terms of the number of citationscaptured by Google Scholar, it is considered the most cited IS conference. The Department of Information Systems at the University of Kassel wassuccessful in the run-up with numerous submissions and used the opportunity to exchange with numerous renowned scientists from all over the world.
