On Wednesday, 07 September 2022, the disputation of Benedikt Simmert took place at the Department Information Systems University of Kassel | Information Systems University of Kassel . Besides Prof. Jan Marco Leimeister , colleagues as well as family and friends were on site at the ITeG and followed the lecture there. Further spectators were connected online. Mr. Simmert successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Internal Crowd Work, Empowerment and Agility - Why Internal Crowd Work Matters and How It Leads to Psychological Empowerment and Workforce Agility".

In it, he analyzes, among other things, new forms of work organization to promote agility. His findings show that the characteristics of network structure, competence-centered differentiation, employee autonomy, and flexibility have a major impact on agility in companies through the use of Internal Crowd Work. Likewise, he identifies the psychological effects of meaningfulness, self-determination, competence, and influence as salient influencing factors.

Professor Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister congratulated Benedikt Simmert warmly following his successful disputation and presented him, in accordance with the tradition at the Chair, with a doctoral hat individually designed by the academic staff of the Department. After the successful defense of the doctoral thesis by a small drink took place. In the course of this, important milestones with regard to the doctoral period were acknowledged.
