As part of the current Handelsblatt Business Economists Ranking 2012, the publications of the last five years of a total of more than 3,000 economists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were analyzed. Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister is ranked 31st among the most research-intensive business professors and seventh among researchers under 40.

In the ranking of the 100 most research-intensive business economists based on the publication output of the last 5 years, Prof. Dr. Leimeister is in 31st place, which means that he has climbed eight places compared to the 2009 business administration ranking. In the group of researchers under 40 years of age, Leimeister is rankedseventh in the current ranking   and has thus improved by 15 places compared to 2009. The current Handelsblatt Business Economists Ranking 2012 analyzes the publication performance of more than 3,000 scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The ranking is based on publications in 950 journals, the quality of which is assessed using various indicators.

The current Handelsblatt ranking also includes the ranking of the 250 best business economists according to their life's work - measured by their publication performance since the beginning of their career.  Here, Prof. Leimeister is ranked104th.

The 2012 ranking and theassociated list of journals are compiled for the Handelsblatt by the KOF Konjunkturforschungsstelle at ETH Zurich.
