Third Workshop of the GI SMART Community Platform Germany

On Friday, October 23, 2026, the 3rd workshop of the GI SMART Community Platform Germany will take place.

The event is part of the research project GI SMARTand will be hosted by the University of Kassel.

The goal of the workshop is to facilitate a discussion on sustainability aspects in the production and certification of geographical indications (GI), as well as to foster networking among stakeholders from the overlapping fields of regional agriculture/food production, regional marketing, and regional development.

The event will be held in Nuremberg, as the Aischgründer Karpfen (PGI) Producers’ Association—a close partner of the GI SMART project—is based in this region.

Dr. Lukas Flinzberger (a researcher at the University of Kassel working on the GI SMART project) will welcome guests from the field of geographical indications (protected geographical products), including experts from the agriculture and food industries, politics, public administration, and regional marketing.
