Digital technologies for the production, trade and consumption of food are currently changing the global agri-food system. Proponents praise digitalization as a solution to the climate-damaging effects of an industrialized agricultural system. However, many of the current technological developments and their regulation reinforce the power of global agribusinesses and thus stand in the way of a more far-reaching transformation towards a sustainable agri-food system. The lecture addresses the above-mentioned dynamics, narratives and challenges.
