As different as agricultural structures are in different regions of the world: Dependent employees make up a significant proportion of the workforce, and their importance is constantly increasing compared to peasant agriculture. In many regions that were still characterized by small-scale farming in the middle of the 20th century, a process of social differentiation is taking place with the penetration of capitalism. In this event, we want to discuss what this process of social differentiation looks like. What aspects characterize labour relations and working conditions in agriculture? And what role do trade unions and forms of organizing workers in agriculture play?
