Project objective

The objective of the project is to open up opportunities for farms (organic and conventional, with a focus on livestock farms) through the production of nuts and mushrooms as healthy and climate-friendly sources of protein. Target group-orientated, low-threshold and in-depth training courses are offered with a strong regional network. This will achieve both capacity-building on the farms and the consolidation of the training programmes and networking. To this end, a needs analysis is carried out and information events are organised so that interested farms can select the branches of business that are right for them. Practical formats for farms are offered to ensure comprehensive skills acquisition, including one-day seminars, in-depth training courses, excursions, field days and regional group meetings. In addition, the value chain for nut production will be further qualified and strengthened.

What kind of knowledge transfer would you like to have regarding walnuts, hazelnuts or edible mushrooms on wood?

Shaping knowledge transfer on walnuts, hazelnuts and wood-decaying fungi

Nuts and mushrooms offer opportunities for new business activities and are in demand for regional marketing. Trees contribute to climate adaptation in the landscape. The cultivation of mushrooms can represent a sensible conversion of stable buildings.

Together with stakeholders from the branches, we would like to further strengthen existing activities in the NuPIWi project and develop further ideas for knowledge transfer. We would like to provide support for walnuts, hazelnuts and edible mushrooms,

  • find out what is suitable for specific farms,
  • get a taste of new business activities,
  • enable exchanges with local farms (regional, national and EU),
  • to convey in-depth knowledge over the year,
  • offering opportunities for exchange on current challenges, also for experienced farms,
  • to promote value chains and
  • strengthen the networking of research, advice and practice.

Interested? We will be happy to send you information on events as soon as dates and content are finalised.
