Course contents:
Geotechnics 1:
Introduction to geotechnical fields of work; geological fundamentals; soil physics; water in soil; protection of structures against groundwater and soil moisture; stresses in soil; deformation properties of soils; settlement calculations; exploration of foundation soil. 

Geotechnics 2:
Shear strength; safety concept and standardization in geotechnics; earth pressure; slope and terrain failure; earthwork; rock mechanics 

Geotechnics 3:
Shallow and surface foundations; retaining walls; foundation pits; pile foundations.
