HMVA for use in concretes

After the basic suitability of processed household waste incineration ash (HMVA) for use in concretes was demonstrated in DBU project 36064/01, the focus of this project is on the use of fine HMVA as a binder substitute. For this purpose, different activation methods (mechanical, chemical) are investigated using different ashes from different locations and their effects on concrete technology. A model is then developed that allows the suitability of an unknown ash to be predicted on the basis of as few preliminary tests as possible. The upscaling is carried out in a precast concrete plant, which is followed by the life cycle assessment with regard to any pollutants, among other things.
