Construction and Maintenance of Road Pavements

The Department of Construction and Maintenance of Road Pavements deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the structural infrastructure of land-based transport routes (pavements for roads, railways, airfields and port facilities) in teaching and research.

The functionality of the transport infrastructure is a prerequisite for the social and economic development of communities, regions, federal states and countries. Ensuring the durable and safe use of pavements requires the holistic consideration of the relevant stresses from traffic and weather, the mechanical properties of construction materials and pavements, and the ecologic and economic boundary conditions in all relevant engineering decision-making processes.
