CELA coordinates the University of Kassel’s Latin America-related activities and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching. Its goal is to analyze social, political, and cultural developments in Latin America from various perspectives and to intensify international exchange. Through collaborations with partner institutions in Latin America and Europe, CELA creates a dynamic network for scholarly dialogue, joint projects, and academic mobility.

July 8, 2026: Panel Discussion: CUBA TODAY: Crisis, Opportunities, Future

As part of the CELA 2026 Latin American Encounter, “Cuba: Crisis, Disputes, and Horizons,” the panel discussion is aimed at a broader university and urban audience.

The discussion focuses on Cuba’s current social, economic, and political crisis, its Latin American and geopolitical dimensions, and the challenges facing Cuban society today. It offers an opportunity to engage with current debates about Cuba beyond simplistic external perspectives and to learn about viewpoints rooted in the island itself.

The event is aimed at students, scholars, members of the University of Kassel, and anyone interested in Cuba, Latin America, and current global transformation processes.

It is organized by the Center for Latin American Studies (CELA) at the University of Kassel as part of the Encuentro Latinoamericano CELA 2026.
