My research explores how transdisciplinary sustainability research can become genuinely transformative. At the center of my work is the question of what happens when different ways of knowing encounter one another: how participants’ assumptions and epistemologies are challenged, how knowledge and power relations are negotiated, and how new understandings of sustainability can emerge through this process.
Drawing on transformative learning and the anthropology of sustainability, I examine transdisciplinarity not only as a means of integrating scientific and societal knowledge, but as a process capable of transforming the people, relationships, and ways of knowing involved. In the context of the Anthropocene and Technocene, my research seeks to contribute to a form of sustainability science that takes epistemic plurality seriously and brings technological, scientific, humanistic, and societal perspectives into meaningful dialogue.
