We are looking for two postdoctoral researchers to strengthen our international team at the Kassel Institute for Sustainability.

Two Postdoc Positions in the LEVER Project

The LEVER project at the Kassel Institute for Sustainability investigates how to organize the knowledge co-creation process in a way that actively supports transformative change and how values can be used as leverage points for sustainability transformation. We work in an international and transdisciplinary team that blends scientific thinking and solution-orientation.

For the two Postdoc positions, we are seeking highly qualified researchers who will focus, depending on their profile, on one or more of the following areas:
– Developing and applying innovative methods for engaging with values and transformation
– Conducting empirical studies, workshops and participatory processes with practice partners
– Advancing theoretical and conceptual work on transformation processes
– Publishing internationally and transferring research results to stakeholder communities

You will carry out independent research, build networks with stakeholders and actively contribute to the development of a new, dynamic institute for sustainability research.

Positions

Dominant research modes are not enough to respond to current sustainability crises. Between studying change and contributing to change, sustainability science seeks both to analytically understand sustainability problems, but also to design interventions that can contribute solution-options to these problems. However, most of the sustainability research to date has largely focused on descriptive-analytical knowledge. Knowledge about how to intervene in order to reach a desirable vision (i.e., transformation knowledge) is typically missing.
