Project C5
Quantum control of chiral observables
Project Lead: Christiane Koch and Daniel Reich (Freie Universität Berlin)
Chiral molecules have a nuclear scaffold with well-defined handedness. Observables sensitive to this handedness are called chiral. The goal of this project is the quantification and coherent control of such chiral observables in order to understand how chiral-sensitive light-matter interaction can be exploited for chiral purification of mixtures and for obtaining maximal information from experimental measurements. Ab initio based quantum dynamics methods, symmetry considerations, concepts from quantum information science and quantum control theory shall be employed to this end.
