Project A4
Photoelectron circular dichroism dependence on distance between probe-electron emission site and chiral center
Project Lead: Arno Ehresmann (University of Kassel)
We experimentally investigate the dependence of photoelectron circular dichroism (PECD) of inner-shell electrons on modifications of the chiral potential and on the distance between the emitter site and the chiral center. The chiral potential will be modified by different functional groups, by transient localized charges, and by a second stereocenter. Two complementary approaches are used to investigate the distance dependence: In a static approach, molecules with marker atoms at different locations are used, in a dynamic approach, we will photo-dissociate the molecule and probe PECD as a function of the time after fragmentation. The project includes the development of the necessary technologies for experiments at high-repetition rate X-ray free electron lasers providing circular polarization.
