Start-up Funding for RTG Graduates

All RTG graduates from the first cohort, as well as associates, can apply for a Multiscale Clocks Start-up Funding to advance their independent, academic careers as postdocs. This 2026 seed funding includes a postdoctoral position (E13, 100%) for six months and/or an appropriate consumables package. The program aims to provide a starting package for early career researchers to write up and submit a research grant proposal for a project that is thematically aligned with the RTG.

Grant amount
Up to € 73.000 allocated between position funding as Postdoctoral Researcher (E13 100% for six months), consumables, and/or conference(s). Direct transfer of money to the grant recipient is not possible.
 
Who can apply?
Only cohort members of the RTG Multiscale Clocks and Associates who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis are eligible. Applicants have to have an ongoing contract with the University of Kassel.

When can you start?
It is a requirement that doctoral theses have been defended with a minimum grade of 'magna cum laude'.

  • Recommendation letter from the RTG PI of your selected host group

Selection procedure: Selection is carried out by the Steering Committee and the Hiring Committee. Each committee consists of three representatives elected by the RTG PIs collective. A quorum is reached when at least two voting members from each committee (four members in total) decide whether to approve or reject the application.
