Multi Signal Far Field Microscope (MSFFM)
Welcome to the MSFFM website
The Multi-Signal Far-Field Microscope is an optical measurement system developed by Department 15 (Mechanical Engineering) at the University of Kassel. It is capable of performing noncontact optical measurements at working distances of a few centimeters with high temporal and spatial resolution. Using specially conditioned particles, it can measure flow fields, strain fields, density, temperature, and concentrations on surfaces and in gaseous and liquid fluids. The MSFFM is part of the DFG Large-Scale Equipment Initiative: “Novel Experimental Light Microscopy.”

The MSFFM usage periods are always from April 1 through September 30 and from October 1 through March 31.
The deadline for submitting applications for usage periods (see Downloads) for the upcoming usage period is January 31, 2026.
