Orchestra

The symphony orchestra of the University of Kassel celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022. It is now made up of almost 70 dedicated students and former students from the various Faculties and has become a permanent fixture in the cultural life of Kassel and the surrounding area.

In weekly rehearsals and two additional rehearsal weekends per semester, the musicians work on challenging programs, which they perform in two to three concerts at the end of the semester. So far, the programs have included compositions from the late classical, romantic and 20th century periods. In recent semesters, the orchestra has performed works by Arámbarri, Arriaga, Arutjunjan, Auric, Barber, Bartók, Beethoven, Bizet, Bragato, Brahms, Bruckner, Pierre Camus, Khachaturian, Chaminade, Copland, Debussy, Dvorák, Elgar, de Falla, Farrenc, Fauré, Francaix, Grieg, Guridi, Haydn, Hindemith, Honegger, Humperdinck, Killmayer, Milhaud, Mozart, Piazzolla, Poulenc, Raff, Ravel, Respighi, Rodrigo, Roussel, Satie, Friedrich Scholz, Shostakovich, Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, Spohr, Strauss, Turina and others.among others.

According to the current status, we may rehearse again in the winter semester 2021/2022. New members are very welcome!
