Incheon, Day 1

Setup Day
After a long and restful night, we were finally able to head into the hall. However, one thing immediately stood out: the balls are exactly the right size so that the arm collecting them can’t push them back out. Oh well—we’ll just have to tinker with it a bit to make it work. We also had to hang up the poster, so first we headed out to find a copy shop in Incheon. I eventually found one, but it could only handle A3… Oh well, two A3 sheets will do. We also spent the rest of the day incorporating images from the new rescue zone into our object detection model, which will be our focus for the entire day. Also, the organizers didn’t manage to set up proper target balls and zone walls… But that shouldn’t be a problem for BioBrause.
After a successful test session, we set out to buy a T-Money card so we could get around using public transportation. Afterward, we went to a real supermarket here for the first time, only to find out that we needed our pass to pay.
Once we were back at our accommodation, the labeling continued. At the same time, it became clear throughout the day that we couldn’t export the model for our hardware, which kept us up until 2 a.m.... But we eventually managed to get it to work. That also means this competition means very little sleep, on top of the jet lag. But we’re used to that, too!
As usual, here’s the video recap of the day: https://youtu.be/lX73J3Mmt7s
