Our QSL Projects

Digital Conversation and Communication Tasks in English Language Teaching

The QSL project Digitale Gesprächs- und Kommunikationsaufgaben im Fremdsprachenunterricht Englisch: KI-gestützte Simulationen und inklusive Übungsformate (Digital Conversation and Communication Tasks in English Language Teaching: AI-supported simulations and inclusive practice formats) was carried out by Dr. Daria Gluhareva and Prof. Dr. Tanja Angelovska between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026. The project was supported by student assistant Marthe Schwerdtfeger.

The project focused on developing digital materials for the education of future English teachers. Its aim was to explore how AI-supported conversation simulations and digital speaking tasks can be used to promote oral communication skills, inclusive teaching practices, and critical digital competence in English teacher education.

Over the course of the project, the team developed and curated a range of materials designed to support both teachers and learners in working with AI-based tools for English language teaching. These materials focused especially on speaking and oral communication, while also addressing broader questions of responsible, reflective, and pedagogically meaningful AI use in the classroom.

Project Materials

The following materials were developed as part of the QSL project and are available for download. Together, these resources contribute to the development of English teacher education at the University of Kassel by connecting current developments in artificial intelligence with central questions in foreign language pedagogy. In particular, the project highlights how AI can be used not as a replacement for classroom interaction, but as a tool for creating additional opportunities for practice, reflection, and inclusive participation.
