Freshers' welcome in the Aueparkhalle

On Tuesday, October 19 and Wednesday, October 20, 2010, the faculty of the IfSS welcomed the new student class. The event was opened by the Managing Director Prof. Dr. Volker Scheid. After a warm welcome, he pointed out the advantages of studying sport in Kassel to the 139 'newcomers', while at the same time focusing on the demands placed on sport students today. Above all, the modularization of the degree course means that students have to complete exam-relevant coursework from the first semester and concentrated study is required from the very first semester. The rest of the faculty then had the opportunity to introduce themselves and give a brief insight into their areas of responsibility, both in teaching and research. Prof. Dr. Armin Kibele and, in particular, Dr. Günter Böttcher informed the students about a possible course of study and the relevant subjects in the first semesters. In conclusion, the entire faculty wished the students a good and successful start to their sports studies at the University of Kassel.
