Foundation stone laid for the new building of the Institute of Sport and Sport Science

On 4.5.12, our colleagues, together with the President of the University, Prof. Postlep, and the Minister of Science and Art, Ms. Kühne-Hörmann, were delighted to celebrate the laying of the foundation stone for the new institute building in Damaschkestraße. For several months now, we have been able to follow the continuous growth of the building and marvel at how quickly it is now progressing. After many years of planning, the joy of having the institute located directly next to the sports facilities is particularly great.
As an extension to the sports hall used jointly by the city and the university, the institute building is currently being built in Damaschkestraße according to plans by Darmstadt architects Pahl und Weber-Pahl.

The two-storey building, which cost 4.48 million euros, is due to be completed and handed over to users in spring 2013. The Institute of Sport and Sport Science already offers an excellent range of courses today," said University President Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep: "This was attested to by our university lecturers in the new CHE ranking just a few days ago. The now foreseeable concentration of all sports facilities of the University of Kassel in the immediate vicinity of the Auestadion and the ice rink gives hope for a further quality boost for students in the future. The laying of the foundation stone was celebrated with a festive ceremony in the morning and rounded off with a drink in the foyer of the Auehalle. Colleagues are delighted that all employees will be able to work in one location in the future.
