"Scouting" in sports studies

The Simi Scout: Game and Tactics Analysis software was purchased to support the qualification in the didactic modules of the game sports. "Scouting", i.e. observing an opponent's or one's own team or athletes, has always been a substantial component of success in sport. The Simi Scout analysis software makes it possible to visualize complicated sequences of actions and identify causal relationships with the help of dynamic images or image series. Especially in team sports, but also in individual sports, behavioral analyses as well as technique and tactic analyses are an important part of successful training. In addition to many other functions, the software allows the visualization of action paths, speeds and directions, as well as the recording of action chains. The analysis can be customized. The criteria (attributes) for evaluating the actions are freely definable and can be changed at any time. Based on the assigned attributes, any actions can be filtered out and displayed individually. The filtered data can be displayed in different ways, for example in combination with the corresponding video sequence, and compared with each other. Cross-project comparisons are also possible. Simi Scout does not restrict data collection and analysis to any particular sport. Due to its variable structure, Simi Scout can be applied to many areas.
In order to simplify the use of the Simi Scout software, a permanently installed video station with two swiveling video cameras was installed in the hall section of the Institute of Sport and Sport Science. Using the video station, it is now possible to easily record relevant training sequences from different angles and then analyze them. To use these systems, please contact your event manager.
