University on the move: Over 1000 participants defied the rain

Over a thousand students and staff from the University of Kassel gathered on Wednesday 29 June for the Sports and Health Day on the university's own sports grounds.


University President Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep opened the now eleventh 'University in Motion' sports day and emphasized what a wonderful tradition has developed at the University of Kassel in recent years. The Head of the Sports Office, Dr. Andrea Fröhlich, and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bernd Overwien, were also present as guests.

The General University Sports Department offered a varied sports and health program throughout the afternoon. Even the thundery showers did not stop the participants from being inspired by attractive sports such as baseball, headis or slackline. The "new" attractive offers of the General University Sports Capoeira, Move & Box and New Style & House were able to present themselves to an interested audience and give an insight into the diverse sports program. Thumb wrestling, in which the participants faced each other in a miniature ring with interlocked hands, was the crowning glory of a great sports and health day.

The excitement of the tournaments and the good mood of the spectators and participants give reason to look forward to "Uni in Bewegung 2012"!
