Pfeiffer Foundation for Architecture
An important sponsor of the faculty is the Pfeiffer Foundation for Architecture. The purpose of the Pfeiffer Foundation is to promote science and research, artistic development as well as education and training, primarily in the field of architecture at the University of Kassel, both nationally and internationally.
The Pfeiffer Foundation pursues exclusively non-profit purposes. In particular, it aims to promote innovative and resource-conserving as well as health-friendly and health-promoting processes and products.
Another focus is on internationalisation and international exchange.

As part of the New Year's reception at the ASL faculty, the Pfeiffer Foundation for Architecture once again awarded prizes for the best final theses on February 12, 2025.
Recognition and prizes were awarded in the following three categories
- Design-conceptually oriented final theses
- Planning-conceptually oriented final theses
- Analytical-reflective, scientific theses
In category 1 , Hussam Alrai and Mouawya Al Abdulla received recognition for their work Brücke+ Nachhaltige Reaktivierung und Aufstockung der Siemensbahn für eine lebenswerte Stadt - Berlin. Another award went to Malte Glubis for his work Zwischen Geschichte und Gedächtnis. Checkpoint Charlie as a place of education and remembrance and to Björn Simon for his work Back to the Future Clay. Aus der Grube ins Gebäude. Nachverdichtung und das Potenzial von Aushubmaterial.
The work Re:Arrange by Yannick Herzmansky received an award.
In category 2, Mira Irmer and Antonia Lüdicke received recognition for their work Konnektiv +-. Marc Roggenstein for eben mit dem Wasser. Städtebau im Umgang mit Hochwasser und Starkregen.
The prize was awarded to Celina Ebbert and Paul Fleckenstein for their work OSTKAS. Von der Brache zur Brücke.
In category 3, Vera Louven and Johann Taillebois were each honored with an award. Vera Louven's work is entitled Der Effekt von Störungen auf Schmetterlinge der Kalkmagerrasen im Werra-Meissner-Kreis unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von punktuellen Brandstellen aus der Schnittgutverbrennung. Johann Taillebois' work is entitled Experimentelle Klimaanpassung im öffentlichen Raum. Der Einfluss von Realexperimenten auf die Implementierung von Klimaanpassungsmaßnahmen.
Prizes in this category were awarded to Lara Hesse with her work Kultur Raum Commons Kassel. Zur Praxis, Bedeutung und Gefährdung alternativer, selbstgemachter Kulturräume and David Rothfuss with his work Implementing Discomfort.

Together with many interested visitors, the Pfeiffer Foundation at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning (ASL) at the University of Kassel celebrated its 20th anniversary on December 11, 2024. Dr. Oliver Fromm, Chancellor of the University of Kassel and Chairman of the Foundation Board, Prof. Ariane Röntz, Dean of Studies of the ASL Faculty, and Prof. em. Wolfgang Schulze, Board Member and former student of Herbert-Theodor Pfeiffer, thanked the Foundation for its many years of exemplary commitment and invited visitors to look back together.

The objectives of the foundation are to be realised by
- awarding scholarships to students, doctoral candidates and artists
- awarding prizes for very good theses and dissertations
- supporting and organizing academic and artistic events
- supporting research and development projects
- awarding research contracts and scholarships
- awarding grants for investments including hardware and software
- issuing and otherwise promoting relevant publications
- supporting international exchange, for example through excursions
- supporting other institutions, facilities and associations that pursue the same purposes as the foundation
