On November 29, 2016, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) held its final conference on Working 4.0 in Berlin. The focus of this event, which marked the conclusion of a one-and-a-half-year dialog process initiated by Federal Minister Andrea Nahles (MdB) with citizens as well as employers' associations, trade unions, politics and science, was the presentation of the white paper "Working 4.0". This white paper contains conclusions of this dialog process and options for action to shape the working world of the future.

The Department of Information Systems at the University of Kassel contributed intensively to the dialog process with its content expertise in this topic area. Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, Chair of Information Systems and Director of the Scientific Center for IT Design at the University of Kassel, has been a member of the "Platform Digital Work" appointed by Federal Minister Nahles since the beginning. Dr. Christoph Peters, Research Group and Project Manager at the Department of Information Systems at the University of Kassel, was a participant in both focus groups of this initiative.
