A team of Prof. Leimeister and Prof. Handschuh from the Institute of Computer Science at the HSG was awarded 1st place in the university category for the project "ArgueLearn". Together with project team members Thiemo Wambsganss, Christina Niklaus and Matthias Söllner, a student-centered learning tool was developed that provides students with individual writing support and feedback on their argumentation skills. The foundation of the tool is based on machine learning and natural language processing techniques.

"The interplay of the latest Artificial Intelligence insights and algorithms paired with a user-centered design describes the level of innovation of the winner of this year's delina award in the Higher Education category", these words were used to introduce the announcement of the winner on June 23, 2021 of the prestigious digital education award delina at the LEARNTEC 21 exhibition. The project "ArgueLearn" by Prof. Dr. Leimeister and Prof. Dr. Handschuh was able to convince the expert jury of 22 experts from science and practice from more than 120 submissions.

The project "ArgueLearn - Adaptive Learning of Argumentation Skills Based on Artificial Intelligence" of the Institute of Information Systems and the Institute of Computer Science of the University of St.Gallen aims at improving the argumentation skills of students in mass and distance learning courses. It was funded by the Grundlagen Forschung Fond (GFF) of the University of St.Gallen and by a Mini-Research-Grant of the Behavioral Lab of the University of St.Gallen.
