Bio  (Prof. Dr. Astrid Dannenberg)

Astrid Dannenberg is Professor at the Institute of Economics at the University of Kassel. She heads the Chair of Environmental and Behavioral Economics and is responsible for the master program in Sustainability Economics and Management. She received her diploma in economics from the University of Mannheim. This was followed by two years as a scientific officer at the German Environmental Protection Agency. She then worked at the Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim and completed this period in 2011 with a doctorate at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg. As a postdoc, she spent a year at the University of Gothenburg and two years at Columbia University in New York. After the postdoctoral phase, she was appointed as Professor at the University of Kassel. Her research lies at the intersection of environmental and behavioral economics and focuses in particular on how cooperative and sustainable behavior can be encouraged and what role social norms and institutions play in this process.
